"What sort of tale have we fallen into"

“What sort of tale have we fallen into.” As I heard John Eldredge repeating these words from the “Lord of the Rings” I found myself asking that question. What sort of tale have I fallen into? I know it is a tale with much uncertainty, in which I am not sure how it will turn out. I wondered to myself how did I get here? I don’t have a clue what it is that I am doing. Am I ready for all that God has in store for me? Do I have what it takes? As I asked myself these and many more questions God revealed to me what sort of tale I had fallen into.

In short a glorious, amazing and fantastic tale. I realized that I should feel honored to be written on its pages. Who cares if I don’t know what it is that I am doing? I have the calling and opportunity to fight in a far off land for those who don’t even realize they are in danger. It is sin and this sinful world that hides from us just what it is we are here for. We are here to serve God and to fight the good fight, and not to worry about success in the worlds eyes as we all do, even if we haven’t yet realized it. We are not called to be comfortable. We are called to be faithful. What an amazing opportunity it is that we all have to be apart of God’s story.

Too many people see God as a burden on there lives. As something that holds them back from the success they desire. And those who don’t see God this way see Him as a tool to reach that success. They think that if they believe in God and have faith God will give them their success and comfort. They think the story is about them. It’s not. They (WE) will never find their part in the story unless they turn from the world’s standards and recognize God’s standards.

My hope is that we would all find our part (our calling) and play that part no matter where it might take you. I t might not take you anywhere. It might be that you have not yet seen clearly that your part is right here at home, and that your priorities have been set way to far on the side of the world. If that is so then there is no better time to change than now.

Time Flies

It is hard for me to believe I am even writting this post. There is one more day (of course after today) left in January 2008. I thought 2008 would never come. I remember being in high school thinking to myself that I would be graduating college in May of 2008...I had the whole world in front of me. I actually graduated in May of 2007 (Yes I got a 4 year bachelors degree, i just did it in 3 years taking classes any time they were offered...i am explaining this in greater detail because I always get asked this questions).

Here is what January 2008 was filled with:

  • Daniel staying at home to go full time support raising.

  • God providing more supporters both prayerfully and finacially.

  • I, Magen, have gotten 2 invites to be a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's, Ellen, wedding and Matron of Honor in Stephanie's wedding! I am super excited! I was telling Ellen the other day that it is something so special to stand by a friend while they confirm before God, family, and friends how much they love one another!

  • Daniel has gotten to spend GOOD quality time with his best friend, Ryan, which was greatly needed!

  • We got a wii, flat screen tv and a ps3 (christmas and birthday money...we could not afford it otherwise).

  • We have gotten to spend very sweet time with a couple of buddies of ours.

  • Madie had her first birthday!!!

  • and much more...i am running out of time to write this post! I look forward to Feburary 2008...more supports, the opportunity to share our calling with others, women's retreat, missions conference at sebc, moving in with the in laws, spending time together, ryan's b'day, valentines day, men's retreat to name a few things! I will leave you with a verse that has really touched my heart dearly and that Daniel and I cling to through this time of the unknown!

    Madie's 1st birthday!!

Today, we are celebrating Madie (our boxers) birthday! She is so dear to Daniel and I. The thing I love the most..which I heard on the radio a while back, is that even though we put her in a cage and leave her for extended periods, she is ALWAYS smiling and wagging her tail the moment we walk through the door...you could not ask for a better welcome than that! She has added so much more dynamic to the Davis household. Those of you who have met her or even had any contact with her, you know she is full of energy....never a dull moment! So, we celebrated with cake and party hats yesterday at my (magen) parent's house. Here are our pictures...Also, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sadie, Madie's sister (Lindsey, my brothers girl friends pup) You will see her (and her mom Lindsey) and Buddy, my parents dog, in the picture! Enjoy :)

Now..we are off to Petco to let Madie pick out her birthday present!! In other exciting news...we got a Wii! I will post pictures soon!!! Oh and I am making progress with my scarf...i will show pictures soon also!

    knitting :)

So I only have a second to right this post, because I am trying to get ready for a wedding in Dothan that I am leaving for in a couple of hours, and watch Fantastic Four 2 with Daniel simultaneously. Here is the news...I am SUPER excited about what I learned last night. While at Ryan and Sam's, Samantha taught me how to knit. After many attempts (wink wink Sam) I am on my way to making a lovely brown, tan, & light blue scarf. I stayed up later than usual last night lying in bed (while Daniel was deep in his dreams) knitting. One of the first things that came to my mind this morning besides working out was of course, you guessed it KNITTING. I will post pictures of the final product (whenever that might be)...Daniel is dying for me to make him an Afghan (I told him I need to take it one step at a time). Anyways, back to getting ready and watching the movie...I have 6 hours on the road ahead of me, so there will be plenty of time for my new hobby!

    until next time.....

    Welcome...

I want to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Davis (Daniel's Parents) to the blogging world! Their blog looks great (it took us forever to make ours look decent, but it took them no time to make theirs fabulous!) Anyway, y'all need to check it out!

In other news...God has continued to blow me(Magen)away in how faithful He is! As I approached the mailbox this morning I prayed (of course if it is the Lord's will) that He would bring someone to support us either prayerfully or financially. As I opened the box and peered inside...I was overwhelmed to see a small piece of mail lying their with the words written on it Daniel and Magen Davis. I reached in grabbing it with curiosity, and tour the flap open...my heart was touched. Someone who I never thought would give...did. Oh ME of little faith!!! Thank you...you know who you are! We give God all the glory and are continuing to persevere through this time of DEPUTATION Thanks to all those who are praying for us!

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:3-5

    Learning new things

    Let it snow...

To those of you who read this blog that are in highly snow-filled areas, this post will look pitiful and be meaningless! But...for those of you who don't EVER see snow unless of course you go on vacation where snow is common, here is what our car looked like when we woke up Saturday morning. .

I know its not much, but it was a nice surprise!!

    Missing You...

Even though Daniel is working from the house now...I seem to see him less. While dropping me off for work this morning, his last comment to me besides I love you was "I miss seeing you". Between my work, meetings for work, wednesday night programming for work, Ryan playing video games at our house, Daniel making phone calls, and doing laundry, there just hasn't been time for US. We even had to schedule a "meeting" for us tonight (might even be this afternoon) so we can talk about our plans for the future (support raising, jobs, living...life in general). Anyways...this post it to you baby...I MISS YOU :(

    Morning Finds

I was struck by the psalmists words early this morning!

1 How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join a group of mockers! 2 Instead, his delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4 The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not survive the judgment, and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

    Psalm 1

    an update on sickness

For all who have asked how I am doing, I wanted to say thanks for your concerns...they mean the world to me! I feel much better except for my very attractive cough that sounds pretty grose (that is the only way I can think to describe it without loosing your interest in my blogging!) I also wanted to say thanks to my husband who is a trooper...I woke up Saturday morning not able to breathe, so he took hot water and sprayed it up my nose (now that is true love :) )

This has absolutely nothing to do with this blog but I felt the need to share it...I am quite upset for this reason--NO 24 THIS SPRING!!!! Daniel and I don't even watch TV very much (except for 24) and they are not having it this season...It was a very enjoyable experince for Daniel and I to go and spend quality time with his parents every Monday night and be entertained by 24! This strike thing is very upsetting...that's all!

    Sickness

I never realize how much I dislike being sick until I really am. Friday night I went to bed with that feeling like I might be getting sick...then this morning I woke up feeling yucky!! I slept till 9:30 (which i never sleep past 8:00 even on the weekends) and i would have slept longer if Daniel had not jumped on the bed to wake me up because he grew impatient waiting on me to get up for the day.

Anyways...I had to miss one of my very dear friends birthday celebration (which I was very unhappy about) Sorry Deena...I will make it up to you I promise!!! On a different note...Daniel and I got to catch up on our sleep by taking a two hour nap. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning because it will be a long day at work tomorrow due to our teacher training after church. Well I'm off to bed but I will leave you with a picture from our date night last week...I think it was a couple of posts back if you did not get to read about it :)

    On the HUNT!

Daniel and I have an addiction...it is plain and simple. I mean at least we are admitting it (or maybe I should say I am admitting it for myself and Daniel). You see...it all began when some brilliant mind invented this little thing that people (usually kids enjoy...but we are kids at heart!) fill their free time with. It was a very clever invention i might add, that has been changed over the years...to better adapt to the changes around it!

Well...I saw it for the first time on TV. I was very curious as to what it was, how it worked, yada..yada...yada. I thought I might enjoy it, so in passing I pointed it out to Daniel...he also thought it was very neat and could be enjoyable. BUT...Getting caught up in other things I some what forgot about it UNTIL...CHRISTMAS! It was one of the HOT items that parents wanted to buy for their children so that on Christmas morning when the kiddos would open their presents a grin would appear on their faces and a big THANK YOU DAD AND MOM...YOU ARE THE BEST would ring in the ears of the satisfied parents.

Anyway getting back to my original thought....ok so during Christmas it was everywhere. Then, some of our VERY dear friends PURCHASED ONE...NO WAY! We would now get to see it...maybe even use it. And then it happen. We went to Ryan and Sam's house last night and actually got to experience what my whole blog it about and it was AMAZING!!! O.K. so i know you are wondering what in the world I am talking about so brace yourself....IT IS A

wii...yes that's right. A super fun game that could entertain you for hours!!!

So Daniel and I spent 1 1/2 hours this morning visiting Target , Best Buy, and Wal-mart in search of one to purchase. Let me just say that we arrived at best buy 4 minutes before it opened and there were people outside waiting....on a wii. So...in saying all of this, if ANY ONE KNOWS WHERE WE CAN PURCHASE ONE PLEASE DO SHARE.

    Date Night

Daniel and I enjoyed our monthly date night last night with dinner & a movie! Since Daniel is staying at home now to raise support, we have to be more careful with our expenses. In light of that, we set a once a month date night! Our night began with dinner at Red Lobster

followed by a great cup of coffee at Starbucks! We concluded our night with the new movie Atonement!
Some people might think i am crazy, but I seriously fall more in love with Daniel everyday....last night was WONDERFUL!!

On another note...we have seen 3 great movies over the past couple of weeks!  We saw P.S. I Love You with my sister last week, Charlie Wilson's War with Ryan and Sam a couple of nights ago and then Atonement last night!

PART 2 of Christmas '07 Recap...

So after celebrating Christmas with one another, we got ready, hopped in the car and drove to the in-laws house!
