thoughts/happenings compiled into a post.

There have been so many things recently that I've wanted to blog about, but just haven't been inspired to do so! Since I'm in the writing mood now, here is a compilation of the posts that have been on my mind :). and please excuse the randomness!

On Thursday, Daniel and I were on our way home when to our surprise we passed one of our neighbors house and found this little means of transportation parked outside

(yes I made Daniel pull over so I could take a picture...thank goodness the owner didn't walk out while I was snapping a shot!). Seeing this car made me remember back to our trip to France in November. I must say that in the states (and more so where we live currently), this car sticks our like a sore thumb with all the gas guzzling SUV surrounding it. BUT in France it goes like peanut butter goes with jelly :) Daniel is looking into getting a 4door SMART car for when we move to France...we shall see!!

Yesterday we ventured out on our first bike ride in a looonnnnggg time. As part of my engagement (3 years ago in August...hard to believe!!), Daniel purchased 2 bran spanking new bikes (to throw me off so I wouldn't know that he would ask me a question that day that would change both of our lives forever.)

Anyways getting back to the story, lets just say that even though we are both work-outaholic's, there's something about trying new forms of exercises (or using different muscles that are not typically used). Boy were we both feeling it when we finished!!

After riding the bikes for a while, we decided to take showers and get all cleaned up to go shoot the pictures you saw from a previous blog (and for the record, we have had many people ask who took those pictures...we did. Both of us are working on our photography skills.) As we were riding in the car to take pics, we decided to stop at the camera store to look at lenses. Before we knew it, we were carrying on a conversation with one of the workers at the camera store. He was a very nice man who knew his stuff about camera's & such...EXCEPT for when it came to the Lord. You see we were standing there just chatting away when all the sudden he began talking about a monopod...and then proceeded to tell Daniel and I that since we (meaning humans) "evolved", we are not use to just walking on 2 legs because we began on 4. Wait what!!!! My first thought...but I didn't verbalize it (even though now looking back maybe I should have). He walked away to check on a price for us and we looked at each other (Daniel and I) knowing exactly what the other was thinking. Well we purchase this sweet lens and left the store. While driving in the car I looked at Daniel and said "How crazy is that?" Daniel quickly replied..."Magen, you know that's a lot of what we will face in France." I guess it had not completely sunk in to me that we would be facing this one day...i guess it not every day you run into a bold evolutionist in the "bible belt".

Now arriving at today...we went to church this morning and heard Joel Brooks speak for the last time as the college pastor at the church we attend. I must say every time we hear him speak, we are both so encouraged and feel the need to examine our own lives and christian walk. Just a side note--Joel holds a special place in our hearts, because he married us almost 2 years ago :)--after church we headed home to cook lunch. Daniel grilled some chicken on the grill, while I prepared a scrumptious salad with raspberry vinaigrette (our favorite) dressing and pecans for Daniel & walnuts for me!

For dessert....brownies. Let me just interject here that Daniel can down some brownies (Mrs. Davis you know what I'm talking about...Daniel has large dessert servings :))

After brownies we chowed down on some watermelon I had cut earlier. I don't know if words can describe how much Daniel likes watermelon. He saw his mother had bought one the other day, and HAD to get one at the store today :)

tonight we were suppose to attend a firework show in honor of the 4th, but the weather is bad here, so we are staying in...going to fill our tummies with pizza & bread sticks (a Davis tradition)! We're both looking forward to the week ahead of us! Hope you are having a good Sunday!

until I write again...

New Style

So to all of you who are one the edge of your seat waiting (haha) here ya go! It's not a drastic change, but it is something light and different. Also know that it is not exactly like I would style it...though very close :)

recentness

where to begin...well on Sunday Daniel left for Wichita Falls, TX for work, and can I just say i am sooooooo glad he is home now!!  Boy did I miss my sweet husband.
I'll fill you in on what I have done while he was gone...well worked & kept myself busy with visiting family and spending some quality time with friends.

Tuesday night Ellen, Clare, Andi, and my sis Leslie came over and we had a girls night.  We played many rounds of catch phrase...awesome game by the way!

Last night my whole family (plus Madie) tried to go walk at the park, but right as we drove up it began raining. So, instead of getting rained on we headed to Shaffer & Lindsey's new home.  It is too cute!  I can't wait to see it complete and visit them as a married couple :)  Here are a few shots I got from our last visit to the cozy little place :)

Well tomorrow i'm getting my hair cut at a new place (which I am kind of nervous about). And then i'm sure Daniel and I will hang out with each other all day! My next wedding is for this beautiful woman...Ellie Mae on July 19th! more to come on that.

peace for now

For all you ladies out there!

As I was browsing through a friend of a friends blogs today, I stumbled across this particular post and was truly confronted, but at the same time encouraged concerning marriage!  This lady begins the post with this  passage from Scripture:
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.” (KJV)
Genesis 2:24

The author of this blog has eloquently laid out the grounds for marriage and challenges those who are married, those who are brides-to-be, or even those women who someday hope to be married to focus on the ultimate purpose for marriage.  So, I encourage you to take some time and read through her thoughts that she has graciously shared with her readers. weddings

The first of many weddings of the summer has "officially" begun for me...YAY! I absolutely love weddings and am so honored to be apart of friends celebration of God uniting them together. Today (June 21st) is Chris & Erin's big day...

Last night we enjoyed the rehearsal and dinner...we got to spend some good time with very dear friends of ours (who will be moving soon and were gonna miss them :(

Erin & I were best friends 7th thru about 9th grade and then we met boys and kind of went our separate ways. God has graciously rekindled our friendship and I am honored and giddy about being a part of their special day! They are high school sweethearts...and adorable if I might say so myself!

Next week will be a challenging week for me. Daniel will be out of town Sunday thru Thursday. I am sad...we hate to be apart from one another, but like I told a friend yesterday, you gotta do what you gotta do. He will be shooting pics for his bro, so really this is a business trip!

Tonight after the wedding and briefly visiting the reception, we will be heading over to my brother & his fiances mexican fiesta shower...can't wait!

Hope you are having a good Saturday!

SURPRISE!!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE surprises, and my husband is amazing at surprising me! I must say that the best surprise he has pulled off to this day was our engagement. Most of my friends (that are engaged or married now) either had some kind of inkling or they just flat out knew they were going to get engaged...but not me! In fact I still think back on that day (and if you want to know all that went down in the best proposal ever just ask me) & am amazed at how he did it! It was COMPLETELY and TOTALLY a surprise...AND IT WAS GREAT! :)
Ok getting back to my story for the day. Daniel and I were having a mission's meeting today at the church, so I knew he would be coming up here, but little did I know he would be surprising me with the most beautiful red gerber daisies.

When asked why he got me flowers (of course I had to ask) his response was perfect. "Because I really missed YOU yesterday"...he was out of town for work and by the time he got home I was half asleep.

He is so sweet and brightened my day...i love you Daniel :)

A good day!

We have enjoyed a very relaxing day with both our Dad's! After church, Daniel and I headed over to my cousin's house to spend time with my dad & granddad.  My dad will probably not be too happy that I put this first picture up, but I wanted to show y'all a pic of my Dad after he opened his father's day gift from his kiddo...a gift certificate to play golf.  Let's just say he LOVES to play golf!  He said this certificate will most likely be used up by the end of this next week...hehe I love you Dad!

Then after our trip to my cousins, we headed home and right back out for dinner with Daniel's family.  We enjoyed a scrumptious meal from Outback!  Hear are a few shots I got from dinner.

Also...having nothing to do with Father's day, I wanted to post a few pics of the t-shirts Daniel and his mom made for us...they did so good! :)  We wore them one night that we spoke at VBS...

Well I guess that is it for now.  I have the day off tomorrow, so Daniel and I are really looking forward to spending some time together.  But for now we are back to LOST.

peace for now :)

OH MY!

These two words perfectly describe our morning!  Let me explain...Since this week has been sooo busy, both Daniel and I were looking forward to sleeping in (i should tell you though that sleeping in to us is 8:00 but never the less "sleeping in").  Last night we both went to bed with this hope...well 5:30am rolled around and out jumped Daniel out of bed...he was ready for the day to begin!  Not wanting to wake me (yes he is so sweet) he quietly left the room and began his normal daily routine which consisted of letting Madie out to go potty.  Nothing unusual happened, she did her business and came inside with him.

After fumbling around on the computer for a bit, Daniel turned around to see what Madie was up to and well (these were his exact words)--"she had EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA...I mean Magen I turned around and she was pooping, then when i moved her to clean up the mess she had just made, she pooped again!  Then I moved her to another room and she messed that one up too."  Up until this point I was still snoozing, but definitely woke up when Daniel began using the carpet cleaning machine.

So that is how our morning went...exactly like we expected (btw when I asked Daniel why he woke up so early this morning, he told me that he gets so excited to spend the day with me when he knows I don't have to work that he wants to begin it as early as possible...i thought it was sweet :))

After everything was cleaned up, Daniel and I hit the gym for a good work out.  Then we decided to grab some lunch at Zoe's (of course I forgot my camera) and spend some quality time with each other chatting  and relaxing in the sun.  I must say we had a blast...I realized even today how much I love this man that God has allowed/called me into marriage with and how I love everyday we get to spend together.  From lunch we did a little of shopping here and there, and a little more. We stopped at my all time favorite (decently priced) place...TARGET!

Finally we went home changed and headed for the finale at VBS.  We were yet again blown away by God's provisions in providing even more support to what he is calling us to!

We were trying to get a good one-armed shot...

this one is much better!!

On our way home we ordered a pizza...just got done eating it and now i'm enjoying Publix's best Birthday Cake Ice Cream while watching LOST (of course).

That's it, i've got to get back to the show.  Peace
