beautiful weekend

Daniel and I both agree that we couldn't have asked for a better weekend after a long week of searching who we are and what we believe. We have thoroughly enjoyed our classes so far! God is stretching us in ways we never thought possible and preparing us for life overseas. Anyway back to the weekend...
Saturday we woke up bright & early (Daniel was too excited to sleep in) and went to Rocky Mountain National Park. We stood awe struck by the beauty of God's creation. You can see photo's on our capturing life blog found to the right of this post.
Then today (Sunday) we went to a church that was well quiet different than what we are use to. After Church we headed to Garden of the Gods and enjoyed once more the beauty of the great outdoors!
ok this last picture is for all you Dumb & Dumber fans...this is the hotel that they filmed some of the movie.  And no we didn't go in but wanted to really bad!  We pulled up to the gate and noticed that people in the line ahead of us were paying money, so we quickly backed out!
ok that's all!

Whew..

What a week and a half we have had!!  Daniel calculated today that we have driven over 30 hours, and i can honestly say i am glad we are settled in one place for 5 weeks.  Our short time here has been fruitful, and we have already begun to see God move in ways we could have never imagined.  We've had many occasions to just take in the vastness of who He is and what He is doing!  We've had to opportunity to visit many places that display His beautiful creation.  Upon arriving, we have spent MUCH of our time with friends...catching up, eating, celebrating birthdays, attending seminary classes, and just hanging out.

On our trip we've experienced a few "firsts" already.  One in particular is what they call "Jeeping".  Now this is a new term for both daniel and myself, and i can honestly say we did not understand all that it encompasses until we experienced it this past saturday.  You see "jeeping" is when you pile into a jeep (there were 4 of us) and basically you put yourself in what i would call terrifying positions.  For example going up a rocky mountain where the road (or lack there of) is only wide enough for ONE vehicle.  We survived (although there we many times when i was not sure we would) and made it to almost 13,000 feet.  It was totally worth it...the beauty of it all was amazing!

Today was our first full day of class.  Our brains have already been challenged  (in a good way) and we look forward to much more!

As we are sitting here waiting for our laundry to finish, i can't help but peer out the window.  My heart is warmed and i feel like a little kid again because IT'S SNOWING outside.  How much fun is that.  As a southern couple who NEVER see's snow...this is pretty sweet and a great treat!  Well i need to finish my homework and then head off to bed!  We miss our family & friends dearly, but are so encouraged!!
"You did not choose me, but I choose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide."  John 15:16
Thank you Lord for reminding us that you are in complete control...even though sometimes we feel longly and forget!!

a journey

We made it!  To Colorado that is.  We arrived yesterday and just have been going going going!  We love being here & seeing our friends.  Thank you to all those who have been covering us with prayer.  We made it safely and are both really excited to see how God will use our time...preparing us for the field.  It has been an adjustment weather wise since when we left our home it was in the 70's to 80's and well now that we are out west its been upper 30's & 40's.  Burrr!  I hope to update more soon :)

think think!

I am sitting here eating cashews trying to write this article that is due TOMORROW!  I just haven't been inspired. I honestly find it a bit difficult to write about myself.  And to know that MANY eyes will be reading this...ugh! It makes me nervous.
Anyway we have had a very busy week already...and it's only Tuesday!  Last night we had some great friends over where we sat around a miniature bonfire (eating smores).  We said goodbye to them...then tonight we went to my cousins b'day party (and had to say bye to them!).  We leave on Friday for our BIG trip!  I will put up pics soon (cause i have taken quiet a few) but now I need to get back to this article.
until i write again...

the way of the weekend...

Friday was phone extravaganza day...
Saturday we went in the morning to a local elementary school to help with a missions project. Then we watched both games (and by both i mean the Auburn & Alabama games.)

Sunday we went to church, then headed over to my grandparents house to celebrate mom's birthday.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves...
Leslie (my sister) & Bradford
Bradford, Linds, Mom & Leslie
mom blowing out her candles

ok this is a "typical picture" of us
...daniel makes me laugh (or tickles me) and then i end up not even looking at the camera!
the newlyweds
(kind of weird because daniel and I are no longer the "newlyweds"...we are just the old married couple now.  Who would have thought?)
we definitely love our dad but he deeply despises pictures!
my sweet hubby :)
Wednesday will be my last day at work...kind of frightening since it's all I've known for the past 2 years.
We are happy for our dear friends Rhett & Valerie and want to congratulate them on their recent engagement...looking forward to their big day!!!
well i think that is it for now.

Happy Birthday MOM!

I am almost in tears right now because I feel like the WORST daughter in the world. I completely forgot to call and wish my mom a happy birthday today.  In fact I didn't remember until she called me (at 7:30pm) to tell me something unrelated! Ugh! How sad am i.  I will say we had an eventful day...running the bleachers for exercise, changing oil & the battery in the car and then the BIG uh-oh.  You see my dear husband was changing the oil in our car (because he says it's cheaper or something) and left his cell phone on the top of the car.  Then he told me he was headed to Advanced Auto Parts to get a new battery.  Cool...until he got home, came inside and sat down and said (and i quote) "Baby, I did something really bad!" Ok girls, when your husband says that...well I didn't know what to think.  I said "did you get in a wreck", "are you Ok"...and so on.  Then he proceeded to explained that his cell phone was in a million pieces on the side of a BUSY road. "OOO i see" i said.  We immediately scrambled to figure out what we were gonna do...and to make a long story short, Daniel got a new phone...and an iphone i might add.  it's pretty sweet and i can't get him off of it already!

Anyway going back to what this WHOLE post is about...my MOM.  Today is her birthday!  This lady is amazing.  The best mom (well i am a lil bias).  She is always there for me...always loving me no matter what i do.  Mom...hears to you! I love you and hope you have a VERY happy birthday.  She went shopping today i know :) and Dad is taking her to the beach either next weekend or the one after that!  Oh and daniel says happy birthday too!
ok that's all...i'm off to bed cause we have a long day tomorrow!
peace

bowling fun

Daniel and I have been praying for ways to get connected in our church...especially with people our age, and God has begun to open those doors...it is sooo exciting! Let me explain...since i worked in the children's area every Sunday, we were limited to interaction with other couples in the same phase of life as us. Now that i am part-time, i don't have to be in the children's area anymore, so we have been thrilled to get to know couples in our community group. Last night we had a fun night BOWLING!

the whole gang!
Kevin & Leann
Josh & Lauren

us :)

and our first preggo couple in the group (16 weeks) Jake & Alana :)

We had so much fun and look forward to more opportunities to share with them!

On another note...we leave for Colorado 2 weeks from TOMORROW! We're pretty excited.
